The Sunny Valley
lodge is built entirely out of local
stone and a wood, called kelo, which
comes from Lapland. The building’s
architectural qualities make it
a unique example in the
whole of the Alps, not
only in Italy.
During construction, a group of
specialist workmen from Finland
laboured alongside skilled local
builders. The Finnish workers were
true artists in woodwork and were
able to make the plans take shape
aided only by a compass and a simple
chainsaw
.
